Fillers Q & A

What are facial fillers?

As your skin ages, it stops producing collagen and elastin, which causes your face to lose its fullness. At Advanced Vein Treatment and Cosmetic Center, Dr. Safvi injects dermal fillers into the skin to fill in wrinkles and add volume. You can have fillers anywhere your skin has lost elasticity, but they’re most effective around the eyes, mouth and jawline, and in the cheeks.

Advanced Vein Treatment and Cosmetic Center offers Juvéderm®, Radiesse®, and Belotero Balance® fillers. During your free consultation, Dr. Safvi discusses which is most suitable for you.

What’s the difference between Juvéderm, Radiesse, and Belotero Balance fillers?

Dr. Safvi wants you to see the best results from your filler treatment, which is why he offers you three products: Juvéderm, Radiesse, and Belotero Balance. But what's the difference between the three? Here's a closer look.

Juvéderm

Juvéderm fillers use a hyaluronic acid formula to produce dramatic results immediately.

Radiesse

Radiesse uses a Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) formula, which provides immediate volume and stimulates collagen production. Many people use Radiesse in their hands for an instant hand-lift.

Belotero Balance

Like Juvéderm, Belotero Balance is also a hyaluronic-based formula, but it's much gentler, and, as a result, the effect is more subtle and tends to be the favored choice for fine lines.

What happens at a fillers appointment?

Before your procedure, the treatment area may be numbed using a topical anesthetic. The filler is applied to the area, usually through multiple injections, to ensure the filler material is evenly dispersed. Most treatments take from 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas being treated.

Afterward, you may have some slight swelling or redness, both of which will resolve soon afterward. You can resume your regular activities immediately after treatment.

Am I a good candidate for fillers?

Most adults are good candidates for fillers, but Dr. Safvi discusses your goals and expectations with you to make sure you feel confident about the treatment beforehand.

How long do fillers last?

That depends in part on the type of filler that's used. Some fillers are designed to last as long as two years. Most fillers can be “touched up” over time to help retain their fullness. Dr. Safvi discusses the duration of different filler options during your visit.
